A song, a dog, passing time.

Well no one who knows me well will not know how music like this floats my boat! (hush!) This was from around 1979, and a few months within this song being released, I had a puppy, guess what she was named? Chiquitita of course is Spanish for "little girl" and I always have/had female dogs. Yep! never once shortened and anyone who did took the risk of bodily harm! Its true as far as dogs go, (ones I've had) that Lucy was my darling, yet this one had to be next on the list maybe even equal tho in a different way. As she grew she had a nobility about her, that none of my other dogs have ever had. Laugh at her if she slipped or jumped and missed or something she would sit with her back to you. But, in those dark days she probably was my closest companion. And the song kind of reflected where I was at at that time, of life gone, too painful to want to go on, not desiring to, and yet my own little chiquitita, over time, altered the meaning of this song, tho even now, it can still be a reminder of the pain, grief, despair, and longing for peace when Chiquitita would spend hours licking my tears away. And sometimes I still feel like I'm waiting to sing that new song, and the chains of sorrow are binding. But the darkness of these days, which we all have to a larger or smaller extent, is not so binding as then.

Chiquitita
Abba

Chiquitita, tell me what's wrong
You're enchained by your own sorrow
In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow
How I hate to see you like this
There is no way you can deny it
I can see that you're oh so sad, so quiet

Chiquitita, tell me the truth
I'm a shoulder you can cry on
Your best friend, I'm the one you must rely on
You were always sure of yourself
Now I see you've broken a feather
I hope we can patch it up together

Chiquitita, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leaving
You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving
Chiquitita, you and I cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Chiquitita
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Chiquitita

So the walls came tumbling down
And your love's a blown out candle
All is gone and it seems too hard to handle
Chiquitita, tell me the truth
There is no way you can deny it
I see that you're oh so sad, so quiet

Chiquitita, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leaving
You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving
Chiquitita, you and I cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Chiquitita
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Chiquitita
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Chiquitita
