And tho a paradoy, tragically, its also true.
They may be centuries apart, and yet they had many similarities.

Catherine of Aragon, King Henry Viii first wife, and Diana, Princess of Wales.
Catherine first of all was married to Henry's older brother, who by rights should have succeeded to the thone upon the present King's death. But Arthur, Henry's brother, died within a short time of marrying catherine. The french bride, was a stranger in a foreign land. And then, when Prince Henry was eleven, she was promised in betrothal to this mere boy. Now if this don't beat all the foreign religions for arranged marriages I dunno what does. Catherine became a baby machine. Ten pregnancies in as many years, only one child of which survived. Poor woman. Fancy being remembered in part as giving birth to someone who turned out like Bloody Mary! But, King Henry, occassionally read his Bible. And in leviticus 20;21
21And if a man shall take his brother's wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother's nakedness; they shall be childless.
and he was convinced this was the reason why Catherine had not given him a son, which to him was as good as being childless, so he sought to divorce her on grounds of them never being legally married in the eyes of God. The popish pope at this point actually damned Henry to hell...hmmm... strange, I thought only God could do that. But when the hearing came, and both Henry and his French wife were to be heard, she played to the crowd and knew exactly how to present herself as a victim, and it swung the day for her and held sway for a little while. And of course, by this time, good ole King Henry, was already in love with Anne Boleyn, and he twisted Scripture to his own ends, to legally get his marriage from Catherine as never having been legal. Eventually it was orf with her head! And meanwhile, tho Catherine was a strong Roman Catholic, she was more sincere in piety and so forth than Anne Boleyn, who was both cunning and clever. Her friends described her as a pious woman who was very Spiritually minded. Oh yeah. When the Reformation started and the 'new" religion was formed, Ole Annie get your gun, saw this as her and Henry's chance to get the marriage to Catherine annulled and void. So, we have good ole making out to be pious annie get your gun, twisting the Bible for her own ends, we have good ole King Henry, decieved by his lusts and as much a tryant as the pope, and we have catherine, the wronged party, a catholic, in quiet solitude, almost imprisonment, (they actually tried to get her to join a nunnery!!) writing letter and praying in what seemed a sincere heart, and her main concern was for that of her daughter, young blood mary, (hey I think I just invented a new drink) who was being tyranized and humilated by her loving step mother Annie get your gun. Whew! Anne Boleyn probably has much more to answer for, for how mary turned out, than her natural mother. And the English people hated Annie get your gun, but they just loved Catherine.
Right...lets swing forward to the 20the century.
We have a dippy prince who talks to plants, and is a right mommys boy. He's middle aged, and tho for many years had a string of different women pursuing him... he is in his 40's and still single... so no heir to the throne. Diana Spencer, played with the younger royal children when they were kids, and was well known by the palace, and probably more a friend of Andrew when young, cos they were nearer in age. But,... a lightening bolt!! Prince Charles suddenly asks this shy, awkward young woman to marry him. And hey presto.. a romance is born. A romance destined for heartbreak, tragedy and doom. So, the romance kicks off, and the media chase is on. But everyone is asking...why would a charming young woman like Diana, ever want to marry a jug eared old fuddy duddy like Charlie boy? well, no one really knows that, but its pretty safe to say, she was young, impressed, somewhat naieve, and didn't see the dastardly doings and dirty goings on that lay ahead. And most people do believe too, she did actually love him. They married. And had been married less than a hundred days and she fell pregnant. William, the heir to charles was born. A few years later, another child also a boy, so she'd really done exactly what was required of her. Be a baby machine to produce a royal male heir. now all the time that Big ears, was courting Diana, he was also seeing his bit of fluff, well actually you can't call her a bit of fluff..lets call her the ole nag on account or her likeing for horses. Even before he married Diana the love of his life was Camilla Parker Bowles, who incidentally, was married herself. Through Diana's pregnancies her royal duty if ever there was one, Charles was finding pleasure elsewhere fulfilling his lust. And Diana, was aware of this, and she felt totally abandoned, out of her depth and at times suicidal. She even threw herself down the stairs right in front of Charles just to try and get him to notice her. She became bullimic to theh point of it had carried on she could have died within a short time. She was utterly, thoroughly miserable, the only lights in her life being her two children whom she adored. Eventually, because of Diana's insecurites and often tantrums, Charles exclaimed he "could not stand to be in the same room as that bloody woman" Excuse the French, but seeing as the future king of England said it, maybe its only half french. So they went there separeate ways. Diana after many long tears, found also the true love of her life. And she was not perfect by any means. But part of her popularity was her humanity as well as her great, great compassion. The British people loved her. More than any other royal of that day, even tho she only married into them. They adored her. Then the love of Diana's life happened to be a muslim, dodi AlFayed. And tho she and Charles were divorced, she was still the future King, (William's) mother, and that would not go down well at court, that the princess of wales was in love and may possibly marry a muslim. So, the official version is they were both killed in a car crash while fleeing from the Paparazi. But her fate in my and many others opinion, was a greaty royal cover up of furthe dirty dealings and goings on, and her death, was likely not very much different for where the responsibility lay, as that of Catherine of Aragon. And the British people to this day, still remember Diana, lovingly and with fondness, but we really can't stand the ole nag at any price. If Charles ever succeeds to the throne, whether the British people will accept her as his queen, is quite debatable, but its such a sore point, that they may not even try to go for it, and Charles, if King, as Head of the Chruch of England, can carry on his relationship with her, as he undoubtedly will, outside of the covenant of marriage.
And no one complain abut the length... regular visitors will know I've wanted to post some of my conspiracy theory for a while.
And if my blog suddenly disappears, and I do too, at least I got the info out there first, and first place to look for me, will be the Tower of london!
