Ponderizations of a Crazy Calvinist
Blagging for England from the persecuted church

The Beer Church

Sunday, January 02, 2005
The Beer church is based on the mode of thought that all people are basically good, (despite the fact that the Bible singuarly teaches about the depravity of mankind) and all want to help make the world a better place to live in. So, because people like to party and have fun, the beer church sees themselves as the end justifying the means in getting people in there.

Whether its God-honouring and worshipful, or not, is another matter.

And for $15 you can become an ordained beer minister!

Its sure a long way, from Coffee mornings and fellowship that most people recognize. But won't say more than that, for fear of offending.

Incidentally, the theory of the ends justifying the means, was what the popish church used actually with quite commendable motives to turn the pagan sun-god festival of Saturnalia into what we know now as Christmas. There motives may have been commendable, but I don't think Christianizing pagansm can justly be qualified as the end justifying the means.

I want realease from my suffering, often. The only way to achieve this, in a time frame to suit would be to kill myself. The end would not justify the means, as I may find release from my suffering, but still die in an act of sin.
