Well, I said I would divert from the Royals (briefly)in order to get them off my back, and lessen the risk of being got by the Queen's hit squad, so, will for a short while, turn my attention to Tony Blair. (note the likes listed on my sidebar are: I like to rant about the Royal family, rant abou the British Govt, and rant about the Brit Police Force.)
So, Tony Blair, who until the Iraqui conflict was to me quite and invisible Christian, I didn't even know he professed belief. Until seeeing his speech on BBC one nite before he committed our soldiers to it. Where God was mentioned and I thought at the time quite movingly mentioned. I'm always prepared to think good of someone about any particular thing, (even folks like Tony Blair who gives me the eeebijeebies) if they say something and sound like they mean it, and have no reason to doubt it.
His wife Cherie' was rasied as a Roman Catholic. I think she still is. And Tony Blair when they married almost converted over to catholicism, but he didn't in the end. Maybe cos of his political aspirations. Cheries father, is a well known actor here, who played a drunken layabout in our hit TV sit-com which ran for over a period on and off "Till Death us do Part." which was about a bigotted in almost every way, man, and his family. Tony Booth,
(Cherie's dad) played his son-in-law. Several years ago, probably twenty, I think he was an alcoholic at the time, he poured inflammable stuff over himself and set fire to himself. It was quite a tradgedy at the time, cos he was quite a young man then. But I have seen him stacks of times since, and if he was badly burned at all, it doesn't show when normally dressed. Anyhow, none of that has anything to do with my rant about Tony and Cherie Blair, just background info. Click the pic above for a short profile of him. But Tony Boothe says he is a catholic. But we all know that anyone who sets foot inside a R.C. church says they are a catholic, whether they have belief in God or not. Tony Blair however, is a Methodist. (I wonder if he'd like my musings about John Wesley, huh?)I chose a cartoon pic of him, as the biggest thing I have against him personally is his supercillious grin! I mean the man lies while doing it! How can you trust a man like that? I dont' really know what to make of Pres Bush as regards his faith. Its something I try to steer away from as in wondering if someone is faking belief. But till that nite of Tony Blairs speech on BBC I never even knew he claimed faith. And at least George Dubya for all his faults, does wear his faith on his sleeve. But then, maybe that's not always a good thing either, if a persons actions go against what they say they believe, then guess its not. As most people would take him at his word and think if he thinks that as a Christian, then it has to be okay with God. Even if God is not real in their lives, most folks have a sense of Him.
But this shows a little how loyal to his beliefs and our God he is. This was just this last Tuesday.
Tony Blair gives homosexual priest top job
|
Tony Blair personally sanctioned the controversial appointment of a gay priest to one of the most important Church of England jobs as part of a Downing Street campaign to warn Anglican leaders that a person's sexuality should not bar them from senior positions.
Number 10 officials are understood to have been dismayed by recent Church infighting over homosexual clergy. They believe the Church is in danger of being seen to be out of step with modern society.
